The Ontario government recently announced financial assistance options for Ontarians interested in pursuing a career as a Personal Support Worker (PSW). Up to 4,000 new PSW students who enroll at a participating private career college between June 1 and September 30, 2022 will be eligible for this $54.7 million funding. Eligible students may receive up to $13,690 in financial aid to cover tuition, books, and other mandatory fees, as well as a wage stipend for their clinical placement.

Furthermore, you will be prepared to care for patients and assist them with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management. With Academy of Learning Career College’s remote learning modality, you can safely and conveniently attend online classes in the comfort of your own home — or wherever you prefer — before completing your placement in an Ontario participating long-term care facility.
Aside from being a promising career in the ever-expanding healthcare field, working as a PSW allows you to choose your own workplace. Work in a long-term care home, hospital, home care, or retirement home — or work for yourself as a self-employed worker at your client’s home.
