RAISING AWARENESS FOR SCHIZOPHRENIA, AOLCC ALBERTA JOINS COMMUNITY

May was Mental Health Month, with World Schizophrenia Day falling on May 24.

To help raise awareness and decrease stigma, students of Academy of Learning Career College’s Calgary SouthCalgary Northeast, and Red Deer campuses marched alongside their community in the 2nd annual Strides of Hope Walk (May 24).

Organized by the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, there were seven different walks held across the province that were dedicated to helping Albertans affected by schizophrenia.

The AOLCC students who participated are all undertaking their Community Service and Addictions Worker diploma. Graduates of this program can be employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, shelters, substance abuse centres, school boards, correctional facilities, and other establishments.

Nice work Calgary South, Calgary Northeast, and Red Deer campuses!
